Meetings with Commerce Secretary and Members of Congress underscore the vital US-UAE partnership to foster global economic growth and regional stability

Washington, D.C. (13 June 2025) – His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, concluded a high-level visit to the United States (U.S.) where he met with senior Trump Administration officials and Members of Congress, discussing ways to strengthen the US-UAE strategic partnership. During his visit, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah met with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and key members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to advance cooperation on critical economic, security, and regional issues.

In a forward-looking meeting with Secretary Lutnick, both sides explored avenues to deepen economic and commercial ties. Discussions highlighted the UAE’s commitment to invest $1.4 trillion in the U.S. over the next decade, which is poised to drive growth in transformative sectors such as technology and AI, energy, life sciences and advanced manufacturing. The discussions underscored the UAE’s commitment to innovation and shared prosperity.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah also conducted individual meetings with Sen. Jim Risch (R-ID), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and committee members Sen. Dave McCormick (R-PA), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI). Discussions focused on the UAE’s pivotal role to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and advance solutions to global challenges, such as regional conflicts, humanitarian crises, and diplomatic engagement. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration to address shared priorities.

Accompanying H.H Sheikh Abdullah on this visit were senior UAE officials, including Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; and Dr. Maha Taysir Barakat, Assistant Minister for Medical Affairs and Life Sciences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
